Christian Margreiter
Transplant Surgeon
Christian Margreiter graduated with a MD from the Medical University of Innsbruck in 2005 and got his venia legendi in surgery in 2013 with several studies on pancreas transplantation such as anatomical studies on the vascular supply of pancreas grafts, outcomes after pancreas transplantation in type 2 diabetes patients and immunologic monitoring after PTx.
He is a full consultant surgeon in general, HBP and transplant surgery and is a FEBS in transplant surgery. Since 2016 he is chair of the European Pancreas Advisory Board and Board member of the Eurotransplant Board of Medicine and Science. As deputy head of transplant surgery since 2017, he is responsible for the pancreas transplant programme at the Department of Visceral-, Transplant- and Thoracic Surgery in Innsbruck. In 2019/2020 he took a temporary position as senior transplant surgeon at Oslo Rikshospitalet, Norway. His particular clinical interest is HBP surgery such as liver and pancreas transplantation.
